His Royal Highness, Alhaji H.A. Momoh in view of the current wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has ordered a stoppage to religious activities at the Auchi Central Mosque known as Arafat on Monday.
The Otaru made this known in view of the NCDC’s Protocols for combating the dreaded deadly viral infection that has ravaged the world since December 2019.
However, the Ikelebe III ordered that the Muslim Faithfuls of Auchi Sacred City should instead of converging at the Central Masjid for Friday (Jummah) Service hold same at regional quarters of the Cosmopolitan Town as a proactive measure to bring about a drastic reduction in the number of people who congregate for prayers in line with the Disease Control Agency of Nigeria bearing in mind the need to forestall the spread of Corona Virus Infection.
While emphasizing the import of his decision, the Otaru appealed for the religious use of facemasks, hand sanitizers and other covid-19 precautionary non-medical materials by all subjects in and around Auchi and gave the Auchi Health Committee the task of ensuring that full compliance was achieved to the letter.
On the renovation of Arafat, His Royal Highness stated that the only people he wants at the Mosque’s premises are those currently rebuilding the place of worship. He advised that by the completion of the Masjid and when reopened, women and children should endeavor not to come for worship there as he promised that a women’s wing will be built to further decongest the main Mosque.
