A young man was on Monday lynched by an angry mob along Jattu road, Auchi.
The man was said to have stollen a bike from it's original owner in Jattu some days back but was caught on Monday by the owner who identified his motorcycle and called on passersby to help retrieve the bike.
However, things turned dramatic as an overzealous mob formed around the suspected thief, lynched and set him ablaze before the Nigeria Police could intervene in the situation.
The crowd evaporated into thin air as soon as officers of the law from the Auchi Divisional Police Headquarters appeared in the scene to Savage the situation.

Two bikes were seized and taken by the police and investigation is ongoing to unravel further details about where the alleged bike was stolen from, who it's original owner is, the identity of the thief as well as those involved in the gruesome jungle justice that was meted out on the suspect who died on the spot.
Reactions have however trailed the event as individuals have expressed mixed feelings over whether or not it was right for the life of a man to be taken as a result of theft instead of handing him over to law enforcement agencies for justice to be done.
An eyewitness who spoke with jeyKAD expressed shock over the situation and said though it is wrong for such action to be taken against the suspect, she has seen widows who husbands were killed and their bikes robbed by thieves with the most recent being that of an old man whose bike was stolen and he swore with his life that the thief would lose his life in the most gory of circumstances before the year runs out.
The body has however been deposited in the morge at the Central Hospital, Auchi.
