Auchi, Know Ye Where Thou Stand at the Top as September 19th Draws Neigh. By: Jeremiah Enaholo Kadiri auchiblog@gmail.com +2348069055018 It's sad that at times like these, those we are supposed to look up to for succor are deeply enmeshed in the troubles that travail us. Truly the canker worm that eats up the wood, lives in the wood. By this, I call on true sons and daughters of AUCHI Sacred Kingdom to not lose sight of the ongoing land fracas that has resurfaced since last week Saturday when some youths of Warrake announced to Auchi farmers at Ogwaoghodo to henceforth be paying rents to their elders (in Warrake) for cultivating the area agriculture wise. They have printed forms to this effect and are hell bent on constituting nuisance for no just course even when it is obvious that they are fighting a lost course. The Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom has posited that hands are on deck to savage the situation but I dare say all well meaning sons and daughters of Auchi must give the re...

LAND DISPUTE: "Collect Land Use Permit from us if you must Farm on Ogwaoghodo, Osa”   Group from Warrake Warn Auchi Farmers   By: Jeremiah Enaholo Kadiri auchiblog@gmail.com +234 806 905 5018   5 months after a hint about Government’s decision to cede part of Auchi to the Warrake/Ivbiaro communities of Owan-East, a group of men from Warrake were reported to have announced to Farmers in Ogwaoghodo farmland that they (the farmers) must come to   Warrake and get licenses with which they can begin to operate as tenants on the lands. A farmer who did not wish to be named informed Enaholo J.K. that the group of men who came in pickup vehicles and a public address system went around the farm over the weekend informing those who were around that henceforth, every farmer of Auchi extraction who currently uses the land for agricultural purposes must obtain a land use license from them in Warrake if they must continue to use the land for farming. “ the m...

Residents of Setraco Street Sand-fill Road, Call on Obaseki, Imonofi By: Jeremiah Enaholo Kadiri auchiblog@gmail.com +234 806 905 5018   Youths resident in Setraco Road in Auchi Sacred Kingdom were seen on Wednesday sand-filling the gully riddled street. The road accommodates the old Setraco Construction Company’s Residential area and hitherto the adverse effect of erosion, it was the major route to Auchi Comprehensive College. This is not the first time residents of the street have come together and generated resources with which to help cushion the effect of corrosive run-off water since the road is neither tarred nor does it have drainages for channeling water during rainfalls. It has become a reoccurring decima and an onerous task for the residents therein to raise funds for the perennial problem of erosion in the area. Given the import of good roads and drainages as well as the downsides of their unavailability, the residents have continually grappled with effort...

Utsetsemi’Oya (The Nonentity)

Utsetsemi’Oya (The Nonentity)   By: Jeremiah Enaholo Kadiri auchiblog@gmail.com jeremiahkadiri@gmail.com +234 806 905 5018   “The instruments for the quest of truth are as simple as they are difficult. They may appear quite impossible to an arrogant person, and quite possible to an innocent child.” _M.K. Gandhi Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has been quoted to have said,  “if there is nothing good to say about someone, one should rather say nothing.”  The import of this paraphrased quote cannot be downplayed if today we genuinely seek to make the world a better place for prosperity. Alas! Even though the Qur’an emphatically says, “ woe unto backbiters and slanderers, ” we take pride in the duo like gulping coffee and milk in a warm solution of tea. That we do this without recourse to the fate we profess is not my grouse (because of how hypocritical we’ve grown). My pain and the reason for this piece is what slandering has done to kinship. ‘ Utsetsem’oya ’ is one of the most...
