The cosmopolitan town of Auchi Sacred Kingdom has seen an increase in the supply of power when compared to the recent past. This development is also being accompanied by the fencing of all electricity transformers in the community.

jeyKAD interacted with Mr. Ofienbor Sunny the Business Manager of Auchi Business Area in Edo North who revealed that the BEDC management has thought it wise to up her game by providing better services through increased power supply to the consumers in her business areas.

He also stated that Auchi is currently enjoying electricity supply from the Akharuma Power Sub-station which has been successfully installed after quite some time now.

we are fencing all the transformers as you can see. As you know too, we are using the 40MVA at Akharuma in Auchi…

As we speak, we enjoy better power supply than any other in Edo state.” He said.

Responding to the issue of metering, Mr. Ofienbor gave the assurance that BEDC will soon open up application to all her customers to apply for meters and be metered.

we are poised at bettering our services and not blow our own trumpets. Let the customers blow the trumpets because the golden fish does not hide.

It is our new focus to let our customers know (through our works) that the BEDC is doing their job so that they (the customers) can play their part by paying their bills.

Additionally, the recent fencing format will aid the vigilante in proper security.” He said.

A vox-pop in some quarters of the Sacred Kingdom of Auchi showed that truly, in comparison with the recent past, BEDC seem to have improved on her service delivery since the installation of the Akharuma Power Sub-station and this has helped businesses to thrive in view of the coming Sallah festivities for business purpose and personal consumption at homes.

The fears are however, the same. For how long shall consumers who have no meters continue to bear the pain of estimated billing? How soon shall the application for the meters commence? When will the meters be made available for installation? These and more are begging for answers.
